SSSup?!

The beauty of writing a blog is that you can write your heart out when inspiration strikes and just relax to take a break when laziness strikes! I have been quite lazy lately therefore not many posts. Just an update on what is happening

First of all, I was Liebsterised by lovely Jac from Chloe Blue Likes To Sparkle! So very thrilled! Will be sharing the love soon!

I am loving the cooler weather because I can wear all my heavy and sweet perfumes. But hating the rain and having to stay home with a cold. But loving Cougheze! It is mentholated and full of eucalyptus, so fresh, clears my throat but too much sugar! And of course loving a lot of Vicks Vaporub!

Just a few sleeps till my birthday! I'll be kidding myself if I say I am not excited! Very excited about still being in twenties! My birthday shopping is going great. I bought myself Dior Serum de Rouge, which I have been wanting since a long time! The shade is called Peach, more of a pink than peach, no shimmer, just perfect! I got a pair of cubic zirconia single stone earrings, one of so many I have but needed a pair as I can't find any of the others! I shopped for some clothes at Zara, a faux leather jacket and a pink sweater top. Going to Market City soon to find a matching pair of boots for the jacket and do some makeup shopping from CFD!

Two new perfume crushes! L'Occitane Eau des Baux, such a beautiful spicy vanilla with an incensy feel, just beautiful! Hermes Elixir de Marveilles, deep bitter orange with lots of deep resins, so heavenly! I want a bottle!

Up coming posts: I cleaned out my makeup and perfume cupboards. Lots of pictures to show my slightly expanded collection!
I have some Montale samples on their way from TPC, should be interesting as I have never tried Montale before and loving Aoud now-a-days. Jac sent me some Ralph Lauren samples and I already love Wild! So many reviews to write!!

I watched the Royal Wedding. I rolled my eyes about a 100 times and was a little nauseous hearing so many royal words but I did enjoy watching it!

BPAL: Enraged Orangutan Musk, Fae, Rose Red

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab:
Enraged Orangutan Musk, Fae, Rose Red
BPAL: Enraged Orangutan Musk
Forum-only
Limited Edition
"Five dark, aggressive, furious musks with ambergris bouquet, Malaysian rainforest plant extracts, black amber and orange peel."

This was a BPAL Forum-only release, now a Limited Edition. Thanks to eBay, I got my hands on this. Enraged Orangutan Musk is available for purchase from BPAL's Etsy Store, which has so many prototypes and discontinued perfume oils. Another temptation to withstand!
I wasn't really sure how aggressive and furious the musk would be. I love musk but sometimes, it can be too overwhelming. There is definitely musk in it, a very dramatic musk! It could be called aggressive at first but as the greenness of the "rainforest" emerges, it is really toned down to a soft musk with dark undertones. I really can't separate the orange peel note, it feels bitter and complements the greenness well. The amber is absolutely beautiful and is prominent in the dry down which is gorgeous.

BPAL: Fae
General Catalogue
Bewitching Brews
"A brilliant, ethereal scent: white musk, bergamot, heliotrope, peach and oakmoss."
Fae is so pretty! It is fresh, light and has the bubbliness of a fruity champagne. The peach is juicy but not sweet, it is a fresh, fruity, effervescent scent. I think it is unlike any BPAL I have smelt. There are no twists, just a straight forward pretty scent. Very likable.

BPAL: Rose Red
Yule 2003-2010
Limited Edition
"The perfected winter rose, dew covered and freshly cut."
OMG! This is just like smelling fresh red rose, covered in dew! So fresh that you can still smell the green stem that is just plucked. So lush, so romantic. I am not huge on rose scents but love this! Amazing!

Agent Provocateur: Maitresse

About a month ago, I really wanted some cheering up and went shopping. I strolled into Market City and found a CFD (Cosmetics and Fragrances Direct) right there! Needless to say, I wanted everything there! But I had a tie between Stila pressed powder, which I needed and this very tempting pack of Agent Provocateur Maitresse. I could justify buying just one thing. Well, as usual, 'wants' conquered 'needs' and I came home with this gorgeous thing!

The beautifully packed gift set has a 5ml miniature of Maitresse EDP and a little body wash. Bonus, the bottle has a spray atomiser! And it looks so cute! I like the egg shaped bottles of all these AP perfumes. I paid $15 for it which is not too bad.
"AP Maitresse is an intoxicating Eau De Parfum
with the passionate top notes of White Lotus Petals and
delicate nuances of white Ylang Ylang,
caressed by the pure essence of Osmanthus core,
and immersed deep into Jasmin Sambac
.....the scent of seduction."

Agent Provocateur has an image of sexiness. Given the name and coming from a company that is famous for lingerie, it is not hard to guess. Maitress is the first ever AP that I have tried. I expected sexiness and I am not disappointed at all!

Maitresse is a seductive floral. Right up front, there is bouquet of florals, not very polite but not too harsh either. The Lotus and some white flowers emerge through, fresh and heady. The Jasmine and Osmanthus are beautiful! It has an old powdery feel to it. Not sure if it is Iris or Orris Root or even Violet. I am yet to distinguish these notes but it smells velvety. I read that suede is one of the base notes and I can surely feel the soft, creamy version of leather which is sexy at the same time! It is sexy and seductive without being skanky. White florals + suede = sexy! I like it! Oh, and this one lasts and lasts!

The little tube of creamy body wash that came with it is not much of a use. I hardly ever use matching body wash or lotion because they just don't work on me. I have saved it to give it away to someone who can actually use it.

DIY Perfume: Barren

I called it Barren because it is dry. No water, no flowers, no fruits in sight. The notes are Oud, Benzoin, Amber, Sandalwood

This is such a risk because it is based on Oud (Agarwood) Oud is something that can be very potent and not necessarily something one wants to smell like. Attars, which are the combination of Oud and (mostly) Rose are overpowering on me. But some Ouds can be just divine. Tom Ford Oud Wood, some Montales and some By Kilian (Back to Black) are just wonderful creations. I love the depth and the feel of intensity.

I have some Agarwood that is closest to the natural. My intension was to tone down the agrawood to reduce the intensity and make it softer. Technically, the blend I have is extremely viscous. It is hard to get it out with a pipette and measure the exact quantity. It easily dissolves in DPG (dipropelyne glycol) which is a good thing.

To mellow the Oud, I used benzoin, which is a sweet, balsamic resin, Amber to add warmth and softness and Sandalwood. Overall, it smells different. The benzoin is boozy and sweet but the sandalwood is rich and woody. This is most definitely unisex. My husband tried it, (unusual of him try what I make as he thinks they are quite 'strong') and he liked it. He immediately picked up the sandalwood and has requested me for a little bottle for himself!

TAG: I wish I hadn't bothered....

This is a TAG from Jac's blog, Chloe Blue Likes to Sparkle. Then Jade made a great post on the things that she was unhappy with. Now my turn to share with everyone some of my unhappy perfume purchases. Not surprisingly, the list is long. Here are a few:

Lanvin Rumeur: Well, I bought this during Christmas time at Chemist Warehouse. Many reason why I bought it, firstly because I read so much about it. Secondly it was under $20 on sale. I don't like it one bit. It is like a big mess of florals, all mashed together into one big floral mess. It starts off very sharp and remains that way through out. Big no-no!

Burberry Touch: I really like Burberry fragrances. Brit for men is my all time favourite men's fragrance on me. Touch is very soft. Almost invisible on me. I first thought I'd wear t to places where I am not supposed to wear perfume. I tried wearing wearing it daily for a few days to the hospital. It is boring! Very flat and uninteresting. I'd rather wear just Impulse.

Bond No 9 Fashion Avenue: I got a 50 ml bottle as a good bye purchase from Adelaide. It was on sale and I thought it smelt good at the shop. I still like it. It is slightly green (Mimosa) but mostly it is just Ylang Ylang. I love Ylang Ylang and I have heaps of essential oil. I'd rather wear my EO than spending $$$ on a linear perfume that smells the same. Good perfume, but I wish I hadn't bothered....

Calvin Klein Eternity Moment: I am a huge fan of floral-ness of Eternity. I just love it! Eternity Moment is kind of too floral for me. A good friend now owns my bottle. It was her dream wedding perfume since she was 17 and she will be one happy bride in a few months time!

BPAL: Womb Furie

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab: Womb Furie
Limited edition for Lupercalia

Oh, that wily womb! Hippocrates and his followers considered the womb a mobile creature, causing mayhem as it writhed its way through a woman's body. Sometimes this ornery organ, due to lack of sexual activity, would create conflicts within a woman's system or would become blocked itself, causing anxiety, nervousness, water retention, and sleeplessness. With the assistance of doctors, nursemaids, hand tools, or, occasionally, self-manipulation, this vexing condition could be alleviated through hysterical paroxysms.
Or, as we call it nowadays: orgasm.
An itch that needs to be scratched: Snake Oil and three types of honey.

I have been wanting to try Womb Furie since about a year! What made me very curious about Womb Furie in the first place was Dee's rave reviewFinally, I got my hands on it, thanks to Dee's blog sale! Now I am a proud owner of a bottle of this great scent!

First thought when I smelt it was "Oh my god, where had this been all my life?!"
I love Snake Oil to death! This smells like Snake Oil which is spicy vanilla, but the honey note adds tenderness to it! Really warm, subtly sweet and very sensual.

Smelling Snake oil and Womb Furie side by side, Womb Furie doesn't have the sharpness of spices that Snake Oil has to begin with, it is all toned down by honey. Snake Oil's dry down of vanilla has a lot of smokiness to it. Womb Furie dries down to a sweet sexy vanilla. I love both. I don't want to choose one!
This is released for Lupercalia (Valentine's Day) as a limited edition. Wait till next year to get your hands on it!
